flying pigeon pose hosted by Marion!
well folks, this is about as close to flying pigeon as rachael is going to get. i had also never attempted this pose before this morning (seriously, i’m not into the legs-on-arms balances) so i watched a youtube video to see how to get into it, warmed up with an easy flow, and then gave it a shot.
i hated it. it hurt my arms, it hurt my shins, and i was too focused on the pain on my triceps to even think about balancing. so i took this photo in preparatory position and i stopped. because you know what? you don’t have to like every pose. and you don’t have to do things you don’t like. it’s one thing to challenge yourself to accomplish something you feel you are capable of, and it’s another to do it because you feel like you have to. i don’t like this pose and i can’t see myself incorporating it into my regular flows, and today i decided it wasn’t worth the bruises on my arms to get a pretty picture of it. i’m glad i tried it, and i’m glad this challenge motivated me to try it! and i will now admire it even more in those of you who can do it - you’re so badass! i bow down to your strength. but this one ain’t for me and that’s okay.
if this pose feels good to you or feels like something you want to get comfortable doing, it’s definitely one to work on! i just happen to prefer my legs up over my head ;)
today’s intention was peace. it’s okay to own the things you like and the things you don’t like, and things you can do and things you can’t do. finding peace in that always makes me feel so good. works in progress.
